Sue and I are watching The Sound of Music tonight. Released 102 days before my birth. It was a huge hit in the days of my nativity. As I watch the movie, I can’t help but imagine my new father being deeply moved by the story of a man and his children.
I have many fond memories of my childhood, and one of them is hearing my father singing Edelweiss many, many times. In later years, I would sing it with him. Listening to the song tonight, I realized it wasn’t just a random song we sang together; it was part of my “ear training” that eventually led me to play the guitar and sing.
A few days late, I wish a happy birthday to my father, Kermit, whose birthday is on December 30th.
